SCARS ON BROADWAY's DARON MALAKIAN Has His 'Say'
May 27, 2008The Pulse of Radio reports that SCARS ON BROADWAY, the new band from SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian and drummer John Dolmayan, had the biggest new song at rock radio last week with "They Say", the first single from the group's self-titled debut album. Malakian told The Pulse of Radio that the song sums up one of the biggest themes that runs throughout the record. "Frustration," he said. "You know, frustration with just the world around me. Not sure if it's the end of the world, but feeling like we're on the brink of it. The song goes, you know, 'They say it's all about to end,'and at the end it says, 'Thank God it's all about to end.'It's almost like you're gonna get what you're saying, you're gonna reap what you sow, you know what I mean, and good, you deserve it."
SCARS ON BROADWAY recently signed with Interscope Records and will release its self-titled debut on July 29.
SCARS ON BROADWAY made its live debut in April with a low-key show at the Whiskey in Hollywood, followed by a slot at the Coachella Festival in Indio, California and an opening stint for METALLICA earlier this month at a benefit concert in Los Angeles.
SYSTEM OF A DOWN has been on hiatus since 2006 while its members have pursued various personal projects.
